A couple weeks ago your child received a pink paper for the binders with a calendar on it- it's their practice record. They are to mark off each day that they practice and the approximate amount of minutes. See my example here.
Practicing is an essential building block to becoming a good musician and feeling confident in playing. Here's my advice- don't count the minutes, count the days.
It's much more important that your child takes out their instrument many days a week instead of for just one day for two hours. Sometimes one day might only be for 10 minutes of practice, but if they do that every day before dinner, they've logged in over an hour of practice that week AND become a much better player!
Parents, you have a homework assignment:
1. Listen to your child play one of their assignments this week
2. Sit down with your child and decide which days are good for practicing that week and at what times then stick to it!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Stanek
