Learning how to play with beautiful tone and intonation takes a lot of hard work. Tone is the quality of sound an instrument makes either with the bow or by plucking the strings. Intonation is how "in tune" a student's fingers are with the correct notes.
Playing with perfect intonation is TOUGH! On a piano, students do not have to worry about intonation because the piano keys are all tuned to the correct pitches. For string players, just moving a finger tip the smallest bit can make a song sound out of tune.
For the rest of the year all string students are focusing on producing beautiful tone with good intonation. It takes a lot of dedication at home, but I know they're up for the challenge! Check in with your children each week and ask them how they feel their tone and intonation are on a scale of 1-5. We do this in lessons, too!
